Thompson High cross country teams coming off strong showing at Daphne Invitational

The Thompson Warriors boys and girls cross country teams put together their best overall effort of the season this past Saturday at the Daphne Invitational.

The boys’ varsity team was the overall team champion, out of 19 teams. Among the teams that the Warriors beat were ranked 7A teams Baker and McGill-Toolen. Brandon Demarcus Lee was first overall and teammate Jace Jones was second. Thomas Cousins finished fifth and Jacob Wyatt was one spot behind Cousins.

McKenzie Hogue led the varsity girls’ team to a third place finish. Hogue finished second overall.

The Warriors junior varsity team finished fourth overall behind a pair of top 10 runners. Jacob Alcorn was seventh and Von Carter finished 10th.

On Saturday, the Warriors will compete in the Jesse Owens Classic at Oakville Indian Mounds Park.
