Lady Softball Warriors host Huskies

March 2, 2017

Alabaster, AL-

The Warrior softball team took the field against the Hewitt Huskies tonight (3/2/17) pitting two strong teams against one another. The Huskies started the night strong and the Warriors sputtered out of the gate. The Huskies hung five quick runs on the Warriors behind the strong bats of the number one and two hitters in the line up. The Huskies led 5-0 after one inning of play. An error by the second baseman for the Warriors extended the inning and cost the Warriors some runs.

The Warriors managed to stop the bleeding in the second and third innings with a great defensive effort and solid pitching from Madison Plunkett. The Warriors managed to chip away at the lead and scored three runs over the course of the next four innings.

Heading into the seventh inning the Warriors trailed 5-3. In the bottom of the 7th Kelsey Hutchinson, Macie Crumpton and Bailey Whitfield all hit into outs, going three up, three down to close out the game. The Huskies managed a road win with a final score of 5-3. The Warriors fall to 6-1 and play in the Spain Park tourney March 3rd and 4th.
